After reading about some of the research based upon this claim, I came to the conclusion that there isn't a clear and supported consensus on the academic outcome of computer based instruction.
Some studies support computer games as an educational resource to promote students' learning. Other studies have found no significant effects on the students' performance in school, especially in math achievement of elementary school students.
Since a large portion of my teaching time revolves around math instruction, I thought that I would do some inquiring of my own. I set out to explore if/how the consistent use of DreamBox Learning (an interactive math game), would impact my students' achievement in the area of number sense.
